Build it strong. Keep it simple. Make it last.

Holy Guacamole! Porteur Racks are on their way. Spent the weekend ironing out some of the kinks on the first two prototypes. I hope to have some finished pieces done next week. Should be pretty burly and somewhat lightweight. Getting all the mechanical engineering math done on these bad boys was a giant pain in the ass. I know why Nettles dropped out now. Bend allowance Schmend allowance. Who knew tubing grew when you bend it?

I got a taste of racing a few weekends ago when I got to be "Neutral Support" for the 35th annual "Giro Di San Francisco". Changing wheels and hanging out in the sun all day. Awesome... This guy was JRA and snapped his fork in half. Lucky to be alive, and lucky that the Giant rep was there to see the carnage as well. Road racing is nuts. Too much carbon fiber for me.

Wow you guys sure like to ride them bikes real fast.

Took a field trip with the Freewheel the other day to go visit the Phil Wood factory. It was as old school American machine shop as it gets. It is so refreshing to see a company that is making high quality parts, with exacting standards, by hand... A few fancy machines but mostly old-fashioned bad-assness. Got me all teary eyed and happy on the inside.

Hope everyone has a killer week. Go ride.

  1. Dude, I dropped out because I was an alcoholic and a terrible student, not because I was afraid of math. Anyway, I crushed my construction engineering classes dick!
